2018 Monaco Grand Prix: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good: It was 'redemption' for Daniel Ricciardo as he finally stood on the top step of the podium at the French Riviera. This would've soothed the wounds of 2016 when he lost out on the win through no fault of his own - his team fumbled it in the pits. And he had to earn it with MGUK/gearbox issues as he was not able to use 7th gear. He definitely celebrated the win in style with a belly flop (suggested by Hamilton) at the Red Bull private pool.

The Bad: Pirelli's much hyped 'Hypersoft' tires didn't live up to the billing on Race-day. It mixed up things a bit with drivers unable to get the most out of the rubber. The front-runners had to nurse grained tires right from their pitstops. It seemed strange that those on Supersofts were setting significantly fast laps than those on the Hypersofts. Get your act together Pirelli!

The Ugly: Millions of viewers around the world tuned in on Sunday to watch the action unfold at the French Principality of Monaco. But the 'action' that Formula 1 fanatics expect did not happen as the viewers were treated to 2 hours of circling around the track with little to no overtaking. Monaco is notorious for its lack of overtaking during races however, this year seemed to drab. Even the hypersofts didn't help the cause to make it a variable strategy as most of the teams stuck to the tried and tested 1-stopper. Spice it up, Liberty media!
